Cellular Life in Japan

Trying out a new thing: blogging from digg:

MIT Technology Review interviews Japanese anthropologist Mizuko Ito, about his work on Japan's mobile-phone culture. Main point: "the way Japanese consumers actually use cell phones and other mobile paraphernalia is an outcome of historical and sociological factors unique to Japan."

Hello World (Cup)

One of those nights that I can't sleep. I was thinking about next summer. My pipe dream of spending the month of the Cup in Brazil is looking less and less likely.

But I would like to repeat the daily e-newsletters that I wrote and sent out during the 2002 tournament. But it's also unlikely I'll have the time to watch as many games and write them up.

It just occurred to me: why not use "the wisdom of crowds" to get around this time crunch? The idea: sent invites to everybody on my soccer mailing list to contribute their tourament accounts here.
